Privacy Policy for Brood & Beyond

Brood & Beyond ("the app") is designed for homesteaders who want to track incubation, candling sessions, and animal care on their own devices. This policy explains what data the app collects and how we use it.

Short version

We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to our servers or to any third party. Everything you log in the app stays on your device.

What the app stores on your device

The app stores the following information locally on your phone:

• Hatch batches you create (species, breed, dates, egg counts, notes)
• Individual egg statuses, candling photos you import, and notes you add
• Temperature and humidity readings you log
• Your settings preferences (notification toggles, units of measurement, candling setup)

All of this information lives in a local database on your device. We do not have access to it. If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted along with it.

What the app does NOT do

• We do not require an account
• We do not connect to the internet to send your data anywhere
• We do not use analytics or tracking software
• We do not share, sell, or transmit your information to anyone
• We do not display advertisements

Permissions the app requests

• Notifications: to remind you of turning, candling, lockdown, and hatch days. You can disable these at any time in your phone settings or within the app.
• Camera flash / torch: to use your phone's flashlight as a candling light in Candler Mode.
• Photo library access: to let you import photos of candled eggs from your gallery if you choose to.
• Schedule exact alarms: to ensure incubation reminders fire at the right time.

You can deny or revoke any of these permissions at any time. Some features will be limited if you do.

Photos you import

When you attach a photo to a candling log entry, the photo is copied into the app's private storage on your device. We do not upload these photos anywhere. They are deleted when you uninstall the app.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone. There is no signup, no account, and nothing to collect.

Changes to this policy

If we ever make material changes to how the app handles data (for example, adding cloud sync in a future version), we will update this policy and note the change in the app's release notes.
